Scott Johnson

He is responsible for marketing and managing the firm’s corporate finance and restructuring engagements. He has over 30 years of experience in investment banking and energy, with a particular focus on the oil and gas industry. His areas of expertise include: private equity and debt placements as both investment banker and fund manager, mergers and acquisitions, and strategy development. He has advised and invested in onshore and offshore oil and gas companies with strategies ranging from PDP focus to exploration, and has arranged funding for start-ups and large public companies.

Representative engagements have included Energy XXI, Arena Energy, Fieldwood Energy, Pitchfork Ranch, Trimont Energy, Triple Five Energy, Anadarko Petroleum, Sonat, United Gas Pipe Line, TEPPCO Partners, Petrolane, Smith International, Vessels Energy, Osprey Petroleum, BPI Energy, Magnum Petroleum, Zavanna, Ford Motor Company, Hershey, Singer, Martin Marietta, US West, NYNEX, Con Edison, and Central and South West.

Prior to joining Chiron, Mr. Johnson was the CFO of Schooner Oil and Gas LLC, which attracted large private equity backing targeting oil and gas properties in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Johnson began his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, where he was a member of the Corporate Finance Department serving clients in multiple industries. He was also a member of the Energy Group, where he worked with oil and gas, pipeline, and other energy clients on large scale financing and merger and acquisition projects.

In 1991 Mr. Johnson co-founded Weisser, Johnson & Co., an investment banking boutique in Houston focused primarily on providing start-up and growth capital to the oil and gas industry, as well as acquisition and divestiture advisory work. Weisser Johnson completed dozens of private debt and equity financings over a wide range of size and risk profile. He also co-founded GasRock Capital LLC, a mezzanine debt and equity investment firm.
