One of Chiron’s newest members, John Werner, has been involved in the deregulated electricity markets for over 19 years. His duties and responsibilities in the industry have included business leader, General Counsel and part-owner/founder of his own retail electric provider (REP) company. For several years he also participated on the ERCOT board of directors representing the Independent Retail Electric Provider segment.
Much of his career was spent starting and developing start-up retail electric companies in Texas, whether for large Fortune 500 companies (Constellation, Integrys and ConEd Solutions) or small investor groups. This experience led to a keen understanding of these businesses, their needs and the key drivers that make them successful: a vision, dedicated/skilled team members, systems and capital. Throughout his tenure he has also been involved in mergers and acquisitions of various retail electric businesses.
Prior to entering the retail electricity industry, John was General Counsel for a steel distributor/processor and prior to that he was in private practice.
