Mr. Fernández del Busto is a founding partner of QBIC Management Consulting, an independent management consulting firm based in Mexico City, with deep expertise and involvement in the energy, industrial and hospitality sectors since 2010.
Mr. Fernández del Busto was the chief officer for strategy and business development as well as the chief commercial officer at Grupo Posadas, the largest Mexican hotel owner and operator from 2006 to 2010. He was responsible for revenues generated through a network of over 85 hotels and 16,000 rooms in both the business and leisure segments, as well as yield management, channels and distribution, and marketing and promotion functions.
Mr. Fernández del Busto was a consultant and partner in McKinsey & Co. from 1995 to 2006, where he consulted mainly in the energy, airlines and consumer goods industries, both in the government and the private sectors. With McKinsey, he designed and implemented an investment project portfolio analysis and selection method for Mexico’s national oil company (PEMEX), through which a yearly capital expenditure budget of over $5 billion was allocated. He also designed and implemented the daily operations programming process for PEMEX’s downstream activities (including refineries’ production, products transportation through pipelines, roads, trains and sea vessels, and sales at wholesale terminals), which has been in place since 2003.
Mr. Fernández del Busto has also advised companies in the health, infrastructure and financial sectors, on topics including strategic planning, operational improvement and organization.
He maintains a FINRA Series 79, Series 82, Series 63 and Series 24 securities licenses.
